Beaver Creek opens more terrain during Birds of Prey World Cup

Beaver Creek announced Saturday morning the opening of Riverfront Gondola (7), Lower Beaver Creek Mountain Express Lift (15), and Upper Beaver Creek Mountain Express Lift (18) for the 2024-25 ski season.

The opening of the Riverfront Gondola is big news for locals and visitors staying in Avon, as it bypasses the need to use the Beaver Creek parking lot shuttles, as well as the Avon ߣÏÈÉúer Express, to get up on the mountain.

The morning did not go as smoothly as planned, as the Riverfront Gondola experienced some temporary issues that were being worked on at approximately 10 a.m. ߣÏÈÉúers and spectators were directed to instead use the Avon ߣÏÈÉúer Express bus, which stops at Avon Station.

The new lift openings – in combination with the opening of Strawberry Park Express – offer skiers alternative routes to get to the Birds of Prey World Cup races, taking place at Red Tail Stadium. Now, skiers can access the spectator area via the Beaver Creek Mountain Expressway run – which is accessible by both the Strawberry Park Express and Upper Beaver Creek Mountain Express lifts – in addition to using the Red Tail run, which is accessible from the top of Centennial Express

Earlier this week, the resort also announced the opening of Rose Bowl and the Rose Bowl Express lift.

With no snow in this week’s forecast, Joel Gratz of offers some hope to those heading this way for the holidays. “The latest longer-range forecast models now show a higher chance for some snow from December 24-31,” he wrote. “It’s too soon to figure out the details, but at least the odds are increasing for snow at the end of the month.”
