Walking Mountains’ science-themed Halloween event, Fright at the Museum, returns after a four-year hiatus on Saturday, Oct. 26, from noon to 4 p.m. at the Avon Tang campus. The event offers an afternoon of exploration, discovery and Halloween fun for families and community members of all ages.

This year’s theme, “Science Goes Medieval,” will take participants on a journey back to the Middle Ages, all with a scientific twist. The event will feature over 15 interactive stations (both indoor and outdoor) offering hands-on experiments and exploration for curious minds of all ages. Activities include face painting, catapult building, archery, Enchanted Forest hikes, potion-making, alchemy, metallurgy and more.

“Fright at the Museum is a fantastic opportunity for us to blend science with fun,” said Community Programs Director Hannah Rumble. “We’ve missed seeing the excitement and wonder on the faces of both kids and adults as they explore our unique take on Halloween. This year’s medieval theme adds an extra layer of adventure, and we can’t wait to welcome everyone back.”

Participants are encouraged to wear Halloween costumes to add to the event’s festive atmosphere. Fright at the Museum will also offer families the opportunity to explore Walking Mountains’ 10-acre natural science learning campus in the heart of Avon, making it a memorable addition to their Halloween traditions.

“We’re so excited to bring back this favorite event,” Rumble added. “It’s an opportunity for our community to come together, explore a day of hands-on discovery, and enjoy festive activities for all ages. We want to spark curiosity and create a memorable Halloween experience for everyone.”
