Peaks in Eagle County and around the Colorado Rockies got more than just a dusting overnight.

Early Tuesday, Oct. 3, Vail Mountain, Beaver Creek Resort, and high peaks in between had a healthy helping of fall snow. Vail Resorts is calling it the first official snow for Vail and Beaver Creek, as well as Crested Butte Mountain Resort.

The layer of white is a gentle reminder that opening days are fast approaching. Vail is expected to open on Nov. 10, with Beaver Creek following on Nov. 22.

The Nov. 10 target for Vail Mountain would be the earliest since 1998 when the mountain opened on Nov. 9.
