An Eagle County School District school bus experienced a slippery start Monday following the first snowstorm of the season.

The bus was starting its regular route on U.S. Highway 24 when it slid partially off the road and became stuck in the snow. Matt Miano, communications director for the district, confirmed that there were no students on the bus when the incident occurred.

A backup school bus was deployed to run the route while the initial bus was trapped, and all students were transported to school “safely and without further incident,” Miano wrote in an email to the Vail Daily.
