John LaConte

Vail Daily reporter John LaConte has worked in news since 2003 in television, print and multimedia. He has covered more than a dozen local governments in California and Colorado and has also authored sports stories for Decline Magazine and .

LaConte grew up in Wisconsin but spent much time in the Eagle River Valley with his late grandmother, Chris Frame, who lived in Vail from 1970 to 2003. LaConte now lives in his grandmother’s house with wife, Polina, and their two children.

LaConte is an avid snowboarder and a member of the Rocky Mountain chapter of the Ravinos, an extreme lifestyle club with 50 years of colorful history in Vail. LaConte’s enthusiasm for board sports comes from his father, who was a skateboarder in the 1960s and still owns his original Makaha Red Commander.
