Mining and Engineering Camp

This camp will be based out of Vail Mountain School and will make use of Booth Creek and local public lands within a short walk. Campers should be prepared to be outside all day and ready to get dirty. Campers will explore Colorado mining history through stories and role-playing activities. Campers will become mining engineers and solve historical mining problems such as how to separate minerals from ore (using physical and chemical techniques), how to harness energy from water, how to use pulleys to lift heavy ore buckets, how to maximize ore extraction by using different mining techniques and how to solve new challenges.
